🚚 Shipping & Protection Options

(Australia Post Partnership – Effective March 2026)

The below shipping and protection features apply specifically to bookings sent via our Australia Post partnership, effective March 2026.

All parcels sent through this feature include tracking.

šŸ“¦ Who Pays for Shipping?

The renter pays for:

  • The standard two-way shipping cost (to and from the lender)

  • Shipping calculated based on satchel size and delivery location

If a lender chooses to add additional protection options (such as Signature on Delivery or Extra Cover), those additional fees are paid by the lender and not the renter.

Lenders are welcome to adjust their listing prices to reflect any additional protection costs they choose to apply.

āœļø Signature on Delivery (SOD)

Signature on Delivery means the parcel must be signed for when it arrives. It will not be left unattended at the delivery address.

Some lenders choose to enable SOD for added security on high-value garments.

SOD Pricing (Australia Post)

  • Flat fee: $2.95 per shipment

  • Applied to: Both send and return labels (two-way shipping)

If enabled, this cost is covered by the lender.

If no one is available to sign:

  • The parcel will be redirected to a collection point

  • The renter is responsible for collecting it promptly

Designerex is not responsible for delays caused by missed delivery attempts.

Advanced Settings (Optional)

You can choose to add extra protection in your Advanced Settings at any time. Simply toggle these on in your Advanced Settings if you’d like the added protection.

šŸ›” Extra Cover (Transit Cover)

Extra Cover protects the garment while it is in transit with Australia Post.

This covers:

  • Loss during shipping

  • Damage caused in transit

It does not cover damage during wear.

Extra Cover Pricing (Australia Post)

  • First $100 of cover: Included at no cost

  • Additional cover: $2.50 per $100 (or part thereof)

  • Maximum cover available: $5,000

  • Applied to: Both send and return labels (two-way shipping)

If a lender chooses to add Extra Cover beyond the included $100, the additional insurance cost is paid by the lender.

Advanced Settings (Optional)

You can choose to add extra protection in your Advanced Settings at any time. Simply toggle these on in your Advanced Settings if you’d like the added protection.

⚠ Important Risk Notice for Lenders

If a lender chooses not to enable Signature on Delivery or additional Extra Cover beyond the included $100:

  • The shipment is sent at the lender’s own risk.

  • Designerex is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage occurring in transit.

  • Australia Post compensation will be limited to the standard included cover only.

  • Designerex will not pay or reimburse losses where additional protection was not selected.

Protection options are provided to help mitigate risk. The decision to apply them rests solely with the lender

šŸ“¦ Satchel & Packaging Options

Lenders must select the appropriate satchel size based on the garment’s weight and how it is packed.

Available Satchel Sizes (Australia Post)

  • Small Satchel – Up to 500g

  • Medium Satchel – Up to 1kg

All Australia Post satchels have a maximum weight limit and must not exceed the stated weight once packaged.

Choosing the correct size ensures:

  • Accurate shipping pricing

  • Secure packaging

  • Compliance with Australia Post requirements

šŸ“¦ Packaging Options

Lenders can choose to send their parcel using:

  1. Australia Post satchels (flat-rate packaging provided by Australia Post), or

  2. Their own packaging, provided it meets Australia Post size and weight guidelines.

Shipping costs are calculated based on:

  • Selected satchel size (or parcel weight if using own packaging)

  • Delivery location

If a parcel exceeds the selected size or weight, additional charges may apply.
