Designerex Lender Standards & Expectations

Last updated on 09 Jun, 2026

At Designerex, we’re committed to delivering a premium rental experience for both renters and lenders. To maintain the quality, reliability, and trust our community is known for, we ask all lenders to meet the following standards when listing and renting garments through the platform.

These expectations are designed to protect both parties, minimise disputes, and ensure every renter receives a luxury experience from start to finish.

  1. Ship All Orders via Express Post

All posted bookings must be sent using Australia Post Express Post unless otherwise agreed with the renter.

Express shipping provides faster delivery, improved tracking visibility, and helps ensure garments arrive in time for important events.

  1. Lodge Bookings Promptly

Bookings should be dispatched and lodged with the carrier as soon as possible after receiving a booking confirmation.

Prompt dispatch reduces delivery risks and helps ensure renters receive their garments within the expected timeframe.

  1. Maintain Accurate Availability Calendars

Lenders are expected to keep their availability calendars up to date at all times.

If a garment is unavailable due to personal use, external bookings, repairs, cleaning, holidays, or any other reason, availability should be updated immediately to avoid disappointing renters and prevent booking cancellations.

  1. Ensure Garments Are Clean and Ready to Wear

All garments should be thoroughly cleaned and presented in excellent condition prior to dispatch.

Before sending a garment, lenders should inspect it for:

  • Stains or marks

  • Damage or excessive wear

  • Missing embellishments, buttons, straps, or accessories

  • Broken zips, closures, or fastenings

Renters should receive garments that are event-ready upon arrival.

  1. Maintain Accurate and Detailed Listings

Listings should accurately represent the garment being rented and include clear, detailed information to help renters make informed decisions.

This includes:

  • Correct sizing information

  • Accurate colour descriptions

  • Details regarding fit and stretch

  • Current photographs of the garment

  • Any known imperfections or signs of wear

  • Designer, style, and garment details

Providing clear and accurate listings helps reduce misunderstandings and ensures renters know exactly what to expect.

  1. Include All Components of a Garment

If a garment is advertised with additional components, lenders are expected to include all advertised items with every booking.

This may include:

  • Belts

  • Slips

  • Detachable straps

  • Matching accessories

  • Overskirts or detachable pieces

All components should be checked prior to dispatch to ensure renters receive the complete outfit as advertised.

  1. Provide a Return Satchel With Every Posted Booking

Where return postage is included in the booking, lenders are expected to provide a return satchel with the garment.

The return satchel should be clearly labelled and ready for use to make the return process as simple as possible for renters.

Failure to provide a return satchel may result in delays, additional costs, and a poor rental experience.

  1. Retain Pre-Dispatch Photographs

Lenders should retain clear pre-dispatch photographs of all garments prior to shipping.

These photographs may be requested by Designerex if a dispute arises relating to:

  • Damage

  • Missing items

  • Excessive wear and tear

  • Condition upon return

Pre-dispatch photographs help protect both lenders and renters by providing an accurate record of the garment’s condition before hire.

  1. Respond to Booking Requests Promptly

Renters often book dresses for time-sensitive events and rely on timely responses when making plans.

Lenders are expected to respond to booking requests, messages, and enquiries as quickly as possible. If a garment is no longer available, the request should be declined promptly rather than allowed to expire.

Repeatedly allowing booking requests to expire creates a poor experience for renters who reasonably believe a garment is available to hire.

Accounts that accumulate three or more consecutive expired booking requests may be deemed inactive. In these circumstances, available listings may be archived and the account may be reviewed by the Designerex team to determine whether it remains actively managed.

To avoid disruption to your account, please ensure your availability calendar remains up to date and all booking requests are actively managed within the required timeframe.

  1. Keep Account Information Current

Lenders are responsible for ensuring all account information remains accurate and up to date, including:

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Postal address

  • Pickup location details

  • Bank account and payout details

The information held within your account may be used for booking fulfilment, renter communication, shipping arrangements, and payout processing.

Payouts are processed using the bank account details recorded on your account at the time the payment is generated. If your payout details change, it is your responsibility to update them immediately and contact Designerex if you believe an upcoming payment may be affected.

Designerex cannot be held responsible for payments processed to bank account details that were validly recorded on your account at the time a payment was generated. Where details are updated after a payment has been processed, lenders may need to liaise directly with their financial institution regarding recovery of funds.

  1. Package Garments Securely

Garments should be packaged appropriately to protect them during transit.

Where possible, lenders should use garment bags, tissue paper, dust bags, or other suitable protective packaging to minimise the risk of damage while shipping.

Thoughtful packaging not only protects the garment but also contributes to a premium rental experience for the renter.

  1. Communicate Any Issues Immediately

If a lender becomes aware of any issue that may affect a booking, including shipping delays, garment damage, availability conflicts, return concerns, or communication issues, Designerex should be notified as soon as possible.

Early communication often allows issues to be resolved before they impact the renter’s experience.

  1. Conduct All Transactions Through Designerex

For the protection of both renters and lenders, all communication, payments, and bookings must remain on the Designerex platform.

This ensures access to booking records, payment protection, dispute resolution processes, and customer support when required.

Attempts to move transactions off-platform may result in account restrictions or removal from the platform.

  1. Deliver a Five-Star Rental Experience

Every rental contributes to the reputation of the Designerex community.

We encourage lenders to treat every booking as if they were lending to a friend by providing excellent communication, accurate information, timely dispatch, and beautifully presented garments.

Together, these standards help maintain a trusted marketplace where renters can hire with confidence and lenders can build successful rental businesses.
